This is the first mini golf event for Sam Nation and the Samantha Mini Golf Fundraiser Prescott Scholarship fund.

The mission of the scholarship is to keep Samantha's strong spirit alive by identifying graduating high school seniors throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who exemplify the traits we all saw in Samantha:

- A strong sense of friendship and commitment and community involvement

- Scholastic Achievement

- A desire to achieve to the best of her ability in all she attempted

The farm got its name from Meindert and Willemke VandenAkker's son, Joseph, who bought a small herd of Holstein cows and started West End Dairy in the late 1910's. By the 1950's his two sons, Maynard and George, were also actively involved with the farm.

Located on the 'west end' of Whitinsville, the dairy operated a retail milk route covering the towns of Northbridge, Sutton, Uxbridge and Millville until 1968. At this time the farm switched to a wholesale milk market and continued the dairy operation until 1987. Maynard and George "semi-retired”, yet continued to farm the land for many years raising replacement cows for other farms in the Northeast, beef cattle, and by growing hay to use for their own animals and to sell to other farms.

Today, the farm is owned and operated by George's son, Greg VandenAkker, and his wife Becky and their family (the 4th and 5th generations to live on the land). The farming continues, and to aid in the sustainability of the family farm, the ice cream stand, West End Creamery was established in 1999. In 2006 a farm-themed 18-hole miniature golf course was added. A slight name change to West End Creamery & Family Farm in 2010 has brought the focus back to the farming heritage as the VandenAkker family continues to 'grow' the farm with activities for you and your family to enjoy! This concept is called "Agri-tourism" and the family has had a lot of fun combining their love of farming the land with the excitement of giving the public an opportunity to enjoy the farm as well.
